International activities and field work

During the last eleven years I have spend a considerable amount of time in Indonesia for field work (see below for an overview). During this period I have established many contacts with local researchers, universities, government institutes and NGOs. Also during this period I have and still cooperate with a large number of researchers across the world with whom I exchange inventory data from plots across Borneo. These cooperations have resulted in joint publications and also make it easy for me to start up fieldwork in Indonesia fast and efficiently since I know who I have to contact to arrange research permits, access permits for forest concessions and reserves and logistic support.

· March-April 2009 Field work in the Mengla Forest Dynamics Plot, Yunnan, China
· December 2008 Fieldwork in Naban He rivershed, Yunnan, China.
· September 2008 Fieldwork in Ailoshan Montane Forest, Yunnan, China.
· November – December 2005 Coordinator NHN botany team of the Tropenbos Gunung Lumut Expedition, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
· November 2004 – March 2005 Plot inventories in three undisturbed forests in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
· October 2001 – May 2002 Plot inventories in undisturbed, once burned and twice burned forests in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
· July 1998 – April 1999 Plot inventories in undisturbed, burned and logged forests in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
· April 1997 – December 1997 Plot inventories in undisturbed, burned and logged forests in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
· September 1993 – December 1993 Plot inventories in gaps and adjacent non-gaps in the forests of Guyana.
