 Cao Xinwu received his bachelor of science from Hangzhou University in 1988 and his Ph. D. in astronomy from University of Science and Technology of China in 1994. After working in Physics Department of Hangzhou University as lecturer for a while, he joined Shanghai Astronomical Observatory in 1996, and became research professor in 1999. He is the leader of active galactic nuclei (AGN) group in the observatory, His researches mainly focus on the accretion disks and jets in AGN.
