Land Use/Cover Change, Ecosystem Services and Management, especially focus on:
(1) Land use/cover change under ecological restoration policies and programs in China;
(2) Ecosystem service study based on land use/cover change;
(3) Land use/cover and ecosystem service change restricted by water;
(4) Ecological and geomorphologic approaches in land science;
(5) Analysis and modeling on the competition among ecosystem services.

(1) Special Fundamental Research Project from Ministry of Science and Technology of China (2009-2013): Scientific survey on the middle and lower reaches of Lancang (Mekong) River and Grand Shangri-La Area. Co-PI for Land use/cover change research.
(2) National Key Basic Research Development Program of China (973 Program, 2009-2013): Ecosystem service of main terrestrial ecosystems and ecological security of China. PI for the research on typical ecosystem service and human well-being of Yangtze River basin and Poyang Lake region.
(3) National Natural Science Foundation of China (2010-2012): Multi-scenario modeling on the ecosystem service competition between flood regulation and grain provision. PI for the project.
