| Education and Appointments: |
Yang Zhuming Yang Zhuming received his doctorate in mineralogy and crystallography from China University of Geosciences in 1990. In 1991 he worked in a postdoctoral position in Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Science, and then he got a position of associate professor there. In 1992 and 1994 respectively, he was granted scholarships to make cooperative researches on the crystal structures of some minerals using X-ray single-crystal method in Vienna University. In 1997 he was granted a scholarship by The Royal Society to carry out a collaborate work in mineralogy of Bayan Obo deposit in the Natural History Museum of London. The working interests focus on the researches of crystal structures and crystal chemistry of minerals. The studied minerals include rare earth minerals, such as huanghoite-(Ce), cebaite-(Ce), cordylite-(Ce), Th-rich britholite-(Ce), chevkinite-(Ce), and some new minerals discovered in China, such as gugiaite and magbasite. He was the former national representative in Commission on Classification of Minerals, International Mineralogical Association. Since 2004 he has been the Vice-president of Commission on New Minerals and Mineral Names, Chinese Society of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry, and the Vice-president, Commission of Mineralogy, Chinese Society of Geology. |
