Yafeng Guan is a distinguished young scholar recipient awarded by the National Natural Science Foundation. He is a national candidate of New Century Talents Project, and on the editor board of Journal of Chromatography A, Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry, Chinese Journal of Environmental Chemistry and Chinese Journal of Chromatography. He is the chairman of analytical instrument branch of China Instrument and Control Society, the visiting professor of the University of Science & Technology of China. He has published over 160 papers on the Science Citation Index (SCI) journals, and obtained 49 authorized patents of invention.

His main research interests include method and instrumentation development in miniature gas and liquid chromatography, detectors, multi-dimensional chromatography techniques, sample pretreatment methodologies, and selective sensors.

He has won twice Provincial Technology Invention Award (2nd class, ranked first),and once Provincial S&T Progress Award(1st class, ranked second). He has obtained financial supports from several important projects, such as National Key Scientific Apparatus Development Project of the Ministry of Science & Technology of China, the Major Research Plan of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and so on.
